Horion takes the protection of the personal information you entrust to us seriously. This policy explains what information we collect through our website, why we collect it, what we do with it, and what your rights are.
It applies to horion.ca and the forms it contains. It does not cover information you send us by other means — direct email, telephone, in person — nor the appraisal mandates themselves.
The person responsible for the protection of personal information at Horion is ⟦name⟧, ⟦title⟧, reachable at ⟦email⟧ or ⟦telephone⟧.
You may contact them with any question about this policy, to exercise your rights, or to file a complaint.
We collect your last name, first name, email address, telephone number if you provide one, and the content of your message.
Our servers automatically log certain technical information, including your IP address, the pages visited, the time of the visit and the type of browser used. These logs are kept for ⟦duration⟧.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. This tool places cookies on your device and sends Google information about your visit: pages viewed, referral source, device, browser, language, interactions, and your IP address, from which an approximate location is derived. An identifier is associated with your browser, which makes it possible to recognise the same person from one visit to the next, without naming them.
This measurement is only triggered if you consent to it. It is disabled by default and remains so until you accept it in the window that appears on your first visit.
We collect no information that does not serve one of these purposes, and we neither sell nor rent your information to anyone.
By filling in a form, you consent to our using the information provided for the purposes described above. You are never required to fill in an optional field; only fields marked with an asterisk are necessary to process your request.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting the person indicated in section 1. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from acting on your request.
The quote request form lets you provide the contact details of a borrower or of the person to contact for the inspection. These people do not fill in the form themselves.
By sending us their contact details, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and undertake to inform them that their information has been shared with us, and of this policy. We use these contact details only to organise the appraisal, and for nothing else.
If you are one of these people and wish to know what we hold about you, or to request its deletion, write to the person indicated in section 1.
Your information is accessible to Horion staff who need it in the course of their duties, namely ⟦to specify: which teams or roles⟧.
We also rely on suppliers who process information on our behalf: the site's host, the service that delivers form submissions to Horion, and Google for audience measurement if you have consented to it. We share your information with no other third party, unless required by law.
Some of our suppliers process or host information outside Quebec, in particular ⟦to complete: which suppliers, which countries⟧. Before entrusting them with personal information, we assessed ⟦to complete⟧ and agreed by contract on the applicable protection measures.
A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a site. Ours uses two kinds: necessary cookies, which make the site work and remember your cookie choice, and audience measurement cookies, placed only if you accept them.
On your first visit, a window lets you accept or refuse audience measurement cookies. You can change your mind at any time ⟦to complete: by what means⟧. You can also configure your browser to block cookies; the site will remain functional.
At the end of these periods, the information is ⟦destroyed or anonymised⟧.
Exchanges with the site are encrypted. Access to information is restricted to authorised persons. ⟦to complete: other measures in place⟧
In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we will inform you and the Commission d'accès à l'information, in accordance with the law.
At any time and free of charge, you may access the information we hold about you, request its correction if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous, withdraw your consent to its use, request that the information you provided be given to you in a structured, commonly used technological format, and request that the dissemination of information cease or that a hyperlink giving access to it be de-indexed, in the cases provided for by law.
Send your request to the person indicated in section 1. We will respond within thirty days.
If our response does not satisfy you, you may file a complaint with the person responsible, who will handle it according to the following procedure: ⟦to complete⟧. You may also contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
We may change this policy. The date of the last update appears at the top. In the event of a significant change, we will ⟦to complete: how will you inform people?⟧.
